Yoga
Text

Mon 8:30 am to 9:30 am in the MA CoDE studio, EL50.

Instructor: Britta Schönbrunn

This yoga morning class focuses on the BREATH by learning and practicing various breathing techniques to start the day with a clear and steady mind. Increasing the awareness of the connection between breath flow and movements supports the body to be and process through different yoga postures - Asanas: we wake up the spine, release tension, increase flexibility and stability. The practice encourages to relax and deepen into the asanas with joy, while listening and following ones own body wisdom! No yoga experience necessary

Deepwork
Text

Mon 8:30 am to 9:30 am in the dance department.

Instructor: Selina Hauptmann

DEEPWORK is a functional cardiovascular full-body workout based on the principles of polarity, of yin and yang. Every movement contains a tension and a relaxation phase. It is about creating a harmony between opposites. During the entire training unit, dynamic movements and static holding positions, cardiovascular exercises and functional strength exercises alternate.
In this training, the background beats - deep rhythms and supporting percussion - help to build strength, let emotions run free and reach beyond personal limits.

Tues 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the dance department.

Instructor: Kristina Veit

This 60min beginning of the day class is about connecting the body and mind through awareness of the breath. Yoga is also translated from Sanskrit as union. Something can be united when all parts are perceived. This expansion of perception requires great concentration and practice. In the various traditions of yoga, all levels of the human being, physical, mental and spiritual have a high value and the image of the body as a temple is equally common and healing. Through relaxation techniques, breathing (pranayama) and physical exercises (asanas), targeted strengthening and activation of individual muscle groups, exercises that stimulate circulation, open and mobilize the joints, and above all, practice without pressure to perform, an environment is created in which everyone can make changes at their own pace.

This class is open to everyone. It will be taught in English and German as needed. Please bring comfortable clothing.

Gyrokinesis®
Text

Tue 8:30 am to 9:30 am in the MA CoDE studio, EL50.

Instructor: Fanni Schack

Gyrokinesis® is a holistic movement system that combines elements from Yoga, Tai Chi, swimming and dance. This practice strengthens and stabilizes the spine internally. It also gives the possibility to approach physical and challenging movements mindfully and with a certain ease. Each class begins with a gentle warm up sequence to awaken the senses, either in standing or on a chair. A series of fluid spinal motions such as arching, curving, spiraling and tilting aim at increasing range of motion while creating strength through flowing movement sequences. The class then continues by expanding the movements from the spine to the legs and arms and develops on the floor by incorporating more movements in the hips, shoulders, hands and feet.

Neuro-muscular coordination
Text

Wed 7:15 pm to 8:15 pm in the dance department.

Lecturer: Prof. Dr. Ulf Henrik Göhle

Neuromuscular coordination refers to the nervous system's ability to efficiently control and coordinate the muscles.

Our TAB course provides insight into the theory and practice of this interdisciplinary field. The Lessons always begin with a very brief theoretical insight into neuromuscular processes and anatomical connections. This is followed by practical exercises from various movement schools to improve body awareness and mobility. The newly learned skills are then integrated into targeted fitness training to actively utilize and strengthen the improved movement coordination.

Qigong
Text

Thurs 8:30 am to 9:30 am in the Opera Studio.

Lecturer: Prof. Dr. Martina Peter-Bolaender

+++ The course starts on October 27th, 2022 +++

Qigong means practicing, nurturing and cultivating chi (life energy). Qigong serves the tension regulation, dynamic straightening, elasticity of the fascia and the permeability of the muscle and joint chains. Qigong and meditation enhance individual physical and mental disposition for artistic practice
Students learn different forms of breathing and movement and expand not only their movement repertoire, but also their knowledge and skills to use Qigong and meditation in a supportive way in their daily practice and in preparation for exams and stage performances.

Laughter Yoga for all
Text

Fri 8:30 am to 9:30 am in the dance department.

Instructor: Martin Nachbar

Most of us associate laughter with an expression of joy or a spontaneous reaction to a joke. However, we often laugh for completely different reasons. Laughter yoga takes advantage of this. It is a format in which everyone can laugh for no reason, without humor or joke. It consists, among other things, of clapping and breathing exercises and exercises of intentional laughter in a group. Started in 1995 by an Indian doctor together with five other people, Laughter Yoga is in line with intentional laughter exercises in yoga and meditation. The concept is based on the scientific fact that the body does not distinguish between intentional and spontaneous laughter; the physiological and psychological benefits are the same. Important: Although it doesn't have to, laughter during a laughter session can become quite spontaneous and contagious through eye contact and in flashing moments of playfulness or silliness. People in over 100 countries swear by it. Best to stop by and try it out for yourself.

Open to all. No previous knowledge required. In German or English as needed.
