Would you like to turn your passion for music and your instrument into a profession? There are many ways to achieve this goal. That's why we at the HfMDK in Frankfurt provide students with comprehensive support for their talents and motivate them to develop their own professional profile.

Whether your profile then points in an artistic-performing, musicological-reflective or artistic-pedagogical direction - or in all directions at the same time - you decide for yourself.

Ready for multiple careers

In addition to individual lessons on the instrument, the wide range of subjects at the HfMDK allows students to orient themselves freely and to work towards multiple careers during their studies - as a soloist and as an artistic teacher, in an orchestra and in an ensemble. The job profiles are becoming increasingly diverse, individual and international.

In the Bachelor's, Master's and concert examinations, you will learn from artists who are renowned and networked, and who therefore know exactly which current developments and discourses are currently occupying the music world. All teaching staff are methodologically excellent experts, always open to new ideas and take on responsibility: they provide support and advice, for example in preparing for competitions and auditions.

HfMDK #backstage

More than 400 students come together in the Artistic Music Studies degrees (KAM) at our university. The atmosphere is international and interdisciplinary. This often results in invaluable opportunities for a lively exchange and a stimulating ensemble culture. The close cooperation with the Master's degree courses in Chamber Music and Historical Interpretation Practice (HIP) or the Institute for Contemporary Music IzM also contribute to this.

We offer you a wide range of performance opportunities, you have access to master classes and can also take part in projects that we initiate together with the dance department and the drama department. Outside the university, we cooperate with Goethe University Frankfurt am Main and the Alte Oper Frankfurt, among others.

Symphony orchestra
Text

The symphony orchestra of the HfMDK consists mainly of students of the Artistic Music Studies degrees (KAM). Two major projects usually take place each semester, which result in concerts or a video or audio production. The Great Hall of the HfMDK is not the only place where the orchestra regularly performs: guest performances take us to various stages in the Rhine-Main region.
