When it comes to church music, the first thing that comes to mind is Johann Sebastian Bach, his perfect, timeless "St. Matthew Passion", for example: Nothing could be closer - but that is not enough from our point of view. Anyone professionally involved in church music today encounters a wide range of fascinating expressions of classical music from Monteverdi to Mendelssohn to Messiaen, as well as jazz and pop. The field of work has never been more diverse and yet rarely so stable. The fact is: our graduates are in great demand!

Church Music as Art in Rhine-Main

In your studies, you can expect a dense curriculum with the core subjects of choral conducting, organ and organ improvisation - both in the Bachelor and in the Master's program. You can develop your own artistic profile in a self-determined way and find contact with practice and projects at an early stage. Feel free to say hello on our Facebook page: In the Rhine-Main region, we work with numerous parishes, use significant organs for teaching, and maintain a close exchange with representatives of the dioceses and regional churches in Hesse, as well as with institutions such as Goethe University Frankfurt.

The subjects organ, choral conducting and orchestral conducting are also offered by the HfMDK as independent courses of study within the programs in Instrumental Studies (Focus: Performance).
